slow molasses

Slow as molasses

I have just installed Windows Vista Beta 2 and I find the networking/connecting to the Internet absolutely the most unfriendly version. It is a total non sensical pot pourri I would go back to Windows 95 in a heartbeat, before I buy Vista with such crappy networking. I have "Lightning Speed" or "Extreme" DSL and it is absolutely slower than a downkey when it comes to downloads. I may as well take a car down to whatever server and burn a copy of the file I need. It would be quicker. It does this on all sites and seems to be worse with large files.I had Win XP SP2 running and it does not even compare. Anyone else have problems, experiences?

I havent had anything like that other than the entire system running extremely slow when I had an anti virus software installed. I removed that and its great now. Most things run faster in Vista than they did in XP on the same computer.

Paul - The issue I'm having on my test machine is that access to my local network/Intranet works fine, but access to the Internet is, as you say, "slow as molasses." Slower than dialup. So slow that it just can't be used.
Haven't found a solution, but yours is the second post in addition to my own that I've found so far that seems to be reporting a similar issue.

I installed as an upgrade after Installed my broadband conection is slower than my 28k modem on my laptop with XP pro. If I turn off the protect mode it is alot faster but the popup telloing me it is off is more anoying than being slow. I did find that vista had no effect on ebay it is still as fast as ever. I can no longer use aol 9.0 even though the tech says it works with vista it does not recognise vista as an operating system when tring to install. Also all of my games and programs skip like an old record. I am going to format this computer and the a clean install and see if that makes any difference -- dj
